llamaLAN 39 - Battle Royale

Welcome to a new year, and a fun year for LlamaLAN and the LlamaLAN Community!
We are pleased to announce that LlamaLAN 39 will be running from the 14th to the 16th of April 2023, in-person, with space for our full complement of 40 participants, and in our usual venue!
There will be a few subtle changes. We are going to be operating the usual cut-off date with a requirement of a minimum number of early-bird payments to cover the hall hire costs and to guarantee that the event goes ahead, however with a necessary change. Early-bird tickets will now cost £25 (the first increase since 2011). To adjust for this, we will be reducing the minimum signups to 20. The bigger change that we hope the community will appreciate, is that the regular price tickets will kick in after the cut-off date rather than after we fill the early-bird slots; so, as long as participants pay before the cut-off they will only pay the lower price. Potentially this means that the entire LAN can be sold out at the cheaper ticket price. But, anyone signing up after the cut-off will however pay the new regular price of £35.
This will allow the additional running costs of the event to be better covered whilst removing the penalty to those who miss out on the limited number of tickets but still want to sign up early.
Important dates for LlamaLAN 39 …
... the tickets will go on sale from 8pm today, Sunday the 8th January 2023 on the LlamaLAN website
... the cut-off date will be 8pm on Tuesday the 28th February 2023. Hopefully, this will give everyone a couple of pay days to commit to the event.
... at 8pm on Wednesday the 1st March I will put up a poll to gather thoughts on the games to be played, we will leave that up for a week or so, and then the LlamaLAN team will make our decisions based on that feedback, but there is no reason you can’t start thinking about it now and start recruiting others to your cause.
... the event itself will run from 2pm Friday the 14th of April 2023 until 4pm on Sunday the 16th of April 2023.
So, a few changes, but hopefully this will allow LlamaLAN to continue to flourish!
