LlamaLAN XX - Let the Games run to schedule

Post by CyberDrac »

So, fellow Llamas, we hope that you enjoyed our tale setting the scene for LlamaLAN XX. We also hope that you worked out the less than subtle hints to the planned games for this event, we see on Facebook that most people have interpreted the signs correctly, now it's time to confirm your suspicions and plan your involvement.

The games are ...

Return To Castle Wolfenstein (£5.99 on Steam) - 1v1, Double elimination - initially with eight slots, two per team, but with the option to expand should demand require it to sixteen slots, four per team, points contribute to the overall team score.

Return To Castle Wolfenstein : Enemy Territory (Free to Play) - 5v5 Team Game, League - five players a side to make the most of the chance to play this great team game with its attack and defend modes, points contribute to to the overall team score.

Battlefield 1942 (Free to Play on Origin) - 5v5 Team Game, League - five players a side to play in the ebb and flow of the epic conquest of the battlefield, points contribute to the overall team score.

Tomb Raider (Free to Participate)- Single player, Time Trial - eight slots, two per team to demonstrate your team's tomb raiding abilities. This will be run in the console area and doesn't require that you own the game, points contribute to the overall team score.

Altitude (£6.99 on Steam)- 1v1, Double elimination - initially eight slots, two per team, with the option of expanding to sixteen slots with four per team to demonstrate your aerial prowess as one of those magnificent Llamas in their flying machines, points contribute to the overall team score.

Finally we have decided to run an experiment which, if it proves successfully, will continue at future events. The concept of the COMMUNITY LED TOURNAMENT! We're aware that there is usually a desire prior to any given event for a particular game or game type to be played that falls outside the genres planned for the event. To give these requests a chance to flourish we will extend an open invite to members of the community before each future event to put forward their proposal for a community led tournament to be run by themselves and be assigned time over the weekend in the schedule to run that tournament. On this first occasion we approached long standing community member, TheBrook!, to run our first Community Led Tournament and he has chosen TRACKMANIA!

Trackmania - to be run with a team time trial for each of the four big teams with up to four player per team to establish the fastest Trackmania player from each of the four big teams who will then play in an exhibition match final on the Sunday.

So, we know what we're playing, but what are the timings for the weekend?

We will do our best to keep to these timings and we hope that you will support your team and captains by doing your best to keep to them too. We're also hoping that enugh people will want to particpate in the two 1v1 tournaments that we'll be able to boost both of those from eight slots to sixteen.

It's so close I can taste the cordite and smell the dust of the tombs beneath Castle Wolfenstein.

See you all soon

Just as a quick addendum to the mailer, the community tournament is to let you lead a piece of the LAN and is separate to the other LlamaLAN Big Games and does not contribute to the LAN score at the end of the event. Just wanted to make that clear :D
If it bleeds, we can fry it :0D
