Who are we?

The organisers are both IT professionals with a keen interest in gaming. The LlamaLAN events started off in one person's house, quickly expanding into larger and larger halls until we have reached the size we are now. The events have been running for a few years now, bringing together the computer gaming community of the Medway Towns. We aim to provide an environment in which you can demonstrate your gaming ability over a high speed computer network, be you a first time gamer or a seasoned professional.

So, how does it work?

You bring the machine, and we supply the cabling, the power and the organisation. We run gaming servers running the most popular games and you plug in and play until you drop. The venue has a place to sleep (so make sure you bring a sleeping bag), somewhere to cook (so bring something to eat) and of course somewhere to wash.

What else can you expect?

We always have fun tournaments to test you and your team against the other participants. Don't worry if you don't arrive with a team as it's a good way of making friends when you are there. We have the projector screen on which we can spectate games, especially some of our more fun tournaments. We have also been glad to welcome, at previous events, Projector Games with their own special brand of multiplayer gaming. Imagine playing the same game with 30 other people on a 300+ inch screen at the same time! And if you are more of an active person then we often bring along our dance mats for your enjoyment.

So how much will it cost?

To cover the cost of the hall hire and equipment we are charging each participant £15.00 before the cut-off date, £17.50 after the cut-off date or £20.00 on the door. This will get you a chair, a space at a table, power and a connection to the network. Any spare money is ploughed straight back into better equipment for making your next event more enjoyable.

Spectators

Spectators are welcomed at LlamaLAN and will be charged at £5.00 per spectator for the entire event.

Spectators can take part in projector games but cannot use a PC brought by a participant of the event. This will be seen as a breach of the terms and conditions and will result in both spectator and participant being removed from the event.

What do I need to bring?

Your computer fitted with a network card or onboard controller, with all your games installed and ready to go, the usual mouse, keyboard and monitor, but very importantly a power extension cable with enough sockets to run your equipment. You should also bring something to sleep on or in, food and drink for the weekend and wash gear. Think of it as camping with computers.

Those participants who are of an appropriate age may choose to consume alcohol at these events, and with this in mind we try and keep the events for the over 18s only. However participants between the ages of 16 and 18 are welcome if accompanied by a responsible adult at all times. Any behaviour which is deemed to be detrimental to the event may result in that person being asked to leave; Remember, we are there to have safe, responsible fun. The equipment you bring is your own responsibility, so make sure you transport it safely to and from the event and keep it safe whilst there.
