LlamaLAN 21 - the long awaited games list

Post by CyberDrac »

LlamaLANners,

The time has come to announce games we intend to play at the next event.

As you can imagine from the exceptionally unsubtle hints that have popped up on the Facebook group any time that there has been a sale on the first big title is ... Battlefield 2142. As many of you will have been aware this ha been heavily discounted on Origin several times recently, and equally can still be found on retailers shelves for a bargain price.
Selected for its suitability for older hardware, its dedicated server support (something that is sadly lacking in more recent titles) and of course it has big stomping robots and massive floating battleships! This will feature as our headline team game and we also hope to make an old style big game after the tournament ends for everyone to throw themselves onto a server.

Our second offering will again offer the opportunity to support your team even if you don't have all the games. After the support we received during the last two events we will continue to run a tournament in the console area. This time we will be running an XBox 360 Halo tournament.

Third up we have the eagerly anicipated and hugely popular 1v1 tournament. This follows the LlamaLAN ethos of encouraging participation through the use of free-to-play or bargain priced titles with Urban Terror. Once again we will be starting with four slots per big team and individuals playing will be supporting their teams by earning points as they progress through the double elimination tournament, as well as for their own personal glory.

The fourth official tournament is a another which we hope will allow a widespread participation ... NeoTokyo.

The last piece of games related news is the Community Led Tournament, we have already received one submission for the consideration of the LlamaLAN Management Team, if you feel that you have a great idea for a standalone tournament, and have the skills to plan and execute it successfully then put together a proposal in a PM through the forums to Kanonfodda with details of the game, style of tournament, timings and rules then it will be considered for this or in the event that it is unsuccessful for future LlamaLANs.

With the the constant evolution that LlamaLAN faces many things change, and I am sure that everyone is aware that we are losing one of our core team members to the land of the rising sun and all the wonders that the entails, I am sure that you will join us in expressing our thanks and best wishes for the future to Laura 'Zodiack' Haile. But, in the tradition of, la Reine est mort, Vive la Reine ... we will be attempting to fill the void left by her absence and would like you to join us in welcoming Carrie 'Rogue1990' Humphreys as Yellow Team Captain.

More information to follow, as and when we get it.

Get practicing ...
